October went by so fast, but I still managed to do some amazing projects with some amazing people!
Here’s what went down: (Sorry if the links don’t work!)
The innovative program I’m in, TKS, has begun to move into its main section and out of the introduction phase. This included some spin-off projects like:
My first hackathon! I was in a group of six students, and we developed the idea of using facial recognition technology to identify potential kidnapping victims. Learn more about it here from a LinkedIn post from one of my super-cool groupmates Delilah if you’re interested: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7119768259142307843?updateEntityUrn=urn%3Ali%3Afs_feedUpdate%3A%28V2%2Curn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7119768259142307843%29
An article about antimatter propulsion - One part of TKS is doing a main ‘Focus Project’, in which the first stage was writing an article about a topic that interests us. My topic was the future of antimatter propulsion. Read it here on Medium: https://medium.com/@aloysioustasch/antimatter-propulsion-360918b74c5a
Math + Astrobiology article: After my antimatter propulsion piece was submitted, I decided to publish a previous project: a collaboration with my Polish friend Weronika Boguś. In this article, I laid out my basic equation meant to measure the habitability of an environment using factors such as radiation dosage and atmospheric similarity to Earth. Studying for USABO: USABO is the USA Biology Olympiad for students, and I have been studying for it all of October. I plan on continuing my studies of mainly Campbell’s Biology textbook until and through January when the competition takes place. It’s a slow journey, but we’re getting there!
Keep it up,
Good Luck with your Olympiad and other project 👏👏
